The Source of Prayers May be Unknown
I see no sense in taking time to pray,”
A skeptic to a wise man spoke one day,
“God hasn’t answered what I’ve asked of him,
And still my failing eyes grow weak and dim.”
So then each man went on his separate way
And still to God the skeptic failed to pray
Though time elapsed before they met again.
The skeptic in the wise man’s prayers had been.
“My eyes are now improved,” the skeptic said,
“No help has come from God, and so instead,
I know that what has happened came by chance
No prayer caused this, ‘twas only happenstance.”
The wise man spoke with sadness in his heart,
“Too soon you chose from God to stand apart.
Perhaps in spirit you were growing blind,
When answers to your prayers you did not find.”
“In ways mysterious God will answer prayer
Not always, though, are instant answers there.
So if from God you may not read a sign,
It does not mean He failed to answer MINE.”
