The Sand Runs Out at Sunset
The beginning of life is at sunrise.
Life’s hourglass has been set.
And as the sand runs halfway through,
Middle age at noon is met.
Now time moves toward the afternoon,
Still pouring is the sand.
Though passage of time now escalates,
Life still makes its demands.
Finally, the sand pours near the end.
Then most of life’s work is done,
And the final grains will disappear
In the setting of the sun.
