The Day the Eagle Cried

I have witnessed two "Days of Infamy" in my lifetime, which has spanned nearly four score years. The first initiated our entrance into World War II on December 7, 1941, when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, our Naval Base in Hawaii. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt labelled this a "Day of Infamy". I fought in this war as a Naval Aviator, a United States Marine Corps fighter pilot

I witnessed the second "Day of Infamy" via television on September 11, 2001. This was the day the Kamakazi pilots of the fanatical Muslim terrorists hijacked four commercial jets with hundreds of people aboard and converted them into missiles which struck the World Trade Center towers in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington D.C. These attacks killed nearly 7,000 people, which included not only Americans, but people from 60 foreign countries who were in the towers.

I am not young enough to participate physically in this fighting, which may well become World War III, but I am backing in spirit the president, the congress and all the loyal Americans and civilized people world wide who want to see the end of terrorism.

I have written the following poems to commemorate this tragic event.
