So Much For Absolute Certainty

An old adage says that with certainty
The sun in the east will rise
And to bet the sun will set in the west
Indeed would be most wise

Except, of course, during summer months
In the northernmost latitude,
Where the sun won’t rise, nor can it set,
And darkness will not intrude.

In the winter months if at noon it’s dark,
It will be a sure certain sign
That this could be that oft mentioned place
Where indeed “the sun don’t shine”.
