The “Rights” of Religion Are Being Eroded
In God We Trust, these words inscribed
On currency that’s in circulation.
Indicate the intent of our leadership
In establishment of this nation.
The faith of the founding fathers was clear
As they formed the basic foundation
And God was indeed the cornerstone
In its building and formation
Separation of church and state provided
No monies from taxation
Would go to support a national church
Of a given denomination
Religious freedom was foremost in mind
In the wisdom of their plan
To worship or not to worship God
Was the ultimate choice of man
Strong forces now would undermine
What the Founding Fathers meant
In their guise to preserve what they call “rights”.
They‘ve distorted the Founders’ intent
They want to remove “In God We Trust”
From our currency and our coin
Just the mention of God or religion in schools
They would have the courts enjoin.
Schools no longer Christmas plays produce
Nor Christmas carols sing
While Christmas and Easter vacations now
Use the titles of Winter and Spring
Forcing all children to partake in prayer,
Even zealots would not require
But silent prayers are also banned
For even those who desire.
These forces that would this nation destroy
How best can we subdue?.
