If I Could Live my Life Again
If l could live my life again,
what changes would I make?
Should I take pause at each crossroad,
review which fork to take?
When I have reached the final hour.
of earthly time to spend,
will the statement of my eulogy
Leave blank space at the end?
There are mistakes that I have made.
With these I should contend.
In another life I’d not repeat,
I’d strive to make amends.
The goals for which I did not strive,
objectives not achieved.
I’d seek for more accomplishments
in things I have believed.
If I have been responsible
for people left offended,
whatever harm this may have caused,
it never was intended.
I have neglected many things.
Good deeds I’ve left undone.
Too much procrastination,
some struggles never won
Written on my epitaph,
these words for all to see-
I hope they’ll see the Fo(r)rest that
is hidden in the trees.
“He was not widely recognized,
he made no headline news.
Those modest talents he possessed,
he tried his best to use.”
